The EN-CV plants are controlled by industrial control systems. To produce these control systems, the section is responsible for the capture and edition of control systems requirements and for the control architecture definitions. The software, PLC and SCADA code, is either developed by colleagues of other CERN units, by section members or by contractors. The section also handles the tests and commissioning phases.

Once the control systems are put in operation, the section provides the EN-CV operators and contractors with the required support and maintains these control systems and their computing infrastructure.

The section supports the group with the tools required to analyze the plants operation data, in particular those to compute the EN-CV Key Performances Indicators.

In the early phases of the projects, the section can provide support to project leaders to review the process design to verify that the regulations requirements can be met.
