As described in the section mandate, EN-CV-CL is responsible for the production of the controls for the CV plants.
Since 2012 these controls are implemented with the CERN UNICOS application framework, in collaboration with the BE-ICS group.
Several CERN units are involved in the production of the CV control systems.
Workflow
The production of the control system is organised in several phases described in the EN-CV-CL control production workflow.
Roles and responsibilities
For the large majority of the produced controls, the roles and responsibilites are distributed as followed:
| Role | Responsibility | People in charge |
|---|---|---|
| Control responsible |
|
EN-CV-CL staff |
| Project responsible |
Only applicable to new installations or installation with significatant upgrades |
EN-CV-PJ staff |
| Plant operator |
|
EN-CV-PSM, EN-CV-SPS, EN-CV-LHC or EN-CV-WMC staff |
| Control specifications writer |
|
EN-CV-CL staff |
| PLC code developer |
|
BE-ICS-AP staff |
| HMI synoptics configurator |
|
EN-CV-CL FSU |
| PVSS projects manager |
|
BE-ICS-AP staff |
| Control FAT performer |
|
EN-CV-CL FSU |
| Control I/O SAT performer |

The effort required for each phase varies according to the phase of the project and to its size. To help the planning of the controls production, the effort required for the EN-CV-CL staff and FSUs have been evaluated for the typical projects and documented in the PDS template.
Remark: In some rare cases, the role of PLC developer is given to an EN-CV-CL staff or to the EN-CV-CL software maintenance contractor.
